THE VISION

North Staffordshire is a national priority for regeneration. National, regional and local partners have joined forces to regenerate the local economy, infrastructure and housing market.

An important study led by RENEW North Staffordshire was commissioned on behalf of the partners to develop a clear framework for investment in areas surrounding the city centre including Hanley, Burslem, Middleport and Shelton.

The study’s vision for this urban core includes:

a dynamic city centre for retail, culture, entertainment, business and housing
the best of urban living - using the urban hilltop views, Victorian heritage and surrounding countryside
distinctive and enhanced towns that complement each other and
working to become the greenest city region in Britain by making best use of the parks, canals, rivers and open space

Public and private partners are investing heavily in the city centre, including the creation of a new business district that will be home to high-value, knowledge-based businesses. read more
