TRANSPORT

The roads and streets surrounding City Waterside are well laid out, but
improvements are needed to accommodate better public transport and
to ease movement by cycle, foot and car.
Transport improvements in City Waterside will be co-ordinated with the
aims of the North Staffordshire Integrated Transport Strategy and the
planning policies of the North Staffordshire councils.
Proposals put forward in the masterplan will also provide high quality,
attractive, green entry corridors through City Waterside and into the city centre. They include:

  • the opportunity to widen Lichfield Street and Botteslow Street and introduce bus/
    cycle lanes at critical locations
  • more crossings over the city centre ring road and introducing cycle lanes, wider
    footpaths and better landscaping
  • a new "neighbourhood spine" of traffic-calmed streets to provide east west
access through City Waterside, linking Lichfield Street in the west to Ivy House Road to the east

Strategies for parking and traffic management will also be introduced to navigate and improve its safety.
