CALDON CANAL CORRIDOR

The canal's existing southern edge towpath forms an opportunity for a lively
continuous public space. A newly laid towpath will improve the character of the
canal and allow for a diverse range of leisure activities. Possible improvements
include better mooring and maintenance, facilities for smaller boats and a floating classroom while activities may include canoeing, water gardens and recreational fishing. This route will provide a sequence of smaller squares, laneways, cafes and “rest“ spots.
New footbridges are proposed across the canal at key points in the neighbourhood, while existing bridges will be upgraded.
